Comeytrowe Under Fives Preschool

NEWS AND EVENTS

COMMITTEE NEWS - April 2019

We seem to have got to the last half term of the year in a flash! It’s a pleasure to see how the children have grown and to see them taking those all important steps towards starting school. But it’s always sad to say goodbye.

This term, we will also say goodbye to Caroline, our longest serving member of staff, who has made the decision to move into retirement and the next chapter of her life. Caroline has been with Comeytrowe Under Fives for 27 years and fondly remembers looking after some of our existing parents when they were preschool age. 27 years ago, the preschool was a very different place. There was no Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and Ofsted had only just been born. The main reason parents brought their children to preschool was to socialise with other children whilst they caught up with some housework. Nowadays, most of our parents juggle work, households and childcare, making preschool an essential service within our local community. We extend an enormous thank you to Caroline for her many years of committed service and wish her well in her (probably much more relaxing!) future endeavours.

A big thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our parent questionnaire last month. It is so helpful to get your feedback about what we are doing well, and where you would like us to make changes.

The great news is that you all feel that your children are happy at preschool and 100% of respondents said they would recommend us to another parent.

In response to your comments and suggestions, we’ll be reintroducing the ‘What I didtoday’ forms in the Cubs area, making some improvements to the induction process and strengthening our daily routine. We are also in discussions with the Community Hall Committee about refurbishing and modernising the cloakrooms.

Full details of the questionnaire responses can be viewed here.

NEARLY NEW SALES

Nearly New Sales are Comeytrowe Under Fives' biggest fundraiser.  We hold them fours times a year and they're a great place to sell your pre-loved children's and babies items and pick up a bargain.

Everyone is welcome to sell with us; all you need is a unique seller number and a few handy tips.  We get 25% of the sale price and you get the rest.  If you would like to sell with us, please email nns@comeytroweunderfives.co.uk for a seller number and seller pack.  Our next sales are:

  • Sunday, 20th October 2019: Clothes and Equipment
  • Sunday, 24th November 2019: Toys

All sales are at Comeytrowe Community Hall from 10am-12noon.  Sellers please drop your items off at 9:00 am and collect unsold items promptly at 12:00 pm.
